πRefund Protocol for Security Deposit
In this section, we outline the CryptoBed Refund Protocol, designed to handle security deposit claims for cases where hosts encounter issues with their guests and require compensation for damages.
Security Deposit:
The protocol locks a security deposit at the time of reservation. This deposit is intended to cover any damages to the property caused by the guest. In case of such damages, CryptoBed will send the deposit to the host.
How does the protocol manage security deposits?
When a host requests a security deposit, guests send it to the protocol at the time of booking, and the protocol locks the deposit until the checkout process is complete.
How it works:
All security deposits are locked through the protocol. The host can request a portion or the full amount of the deposit within 24 hours after the guest's checkout. Security deposits are not automatically charged. The host will use the Resolution Center to upload documentation demonstrating damages (such as photos or payment receipts) and request the protocol to reimburse the corresponding amount from the security deposit. Hosts and guests are encouraged to resolve issues independently outside CryptoBed to avoid centralization and data sharing.
How to file a claim?
Step 1: Gather evidence to demonstrate damages, such as photos, videos, quotes, or receipts.
Step 2: Contact the guest and CryptoBed within 24 hours of the checkout.
Step 3: Create a case in https://resolve.kleros.io/.
What documentation is required for a claim?
Depending on the damages, you may be asked to provide at least one of the following pieces of evidence when submitting a request:
β’ Photos or videos of the damages.
β’ Receipt, screenshot, or bank statement showing ownership, original purchase price, and age or condition of the item(s).
β’ Proof of repair or replacement cost (e.g., invoice showing repair or replacement cost; search for the same or similar item on Amazon or eBay as proof).
β’ In the unlikely event of malicious damages or illegal activities, you may be required to provide an official police report.
What if the original purchase receipt(s) for the damaged property are not available?
You may be able to prove ownership of the items with photos, videos, or credit card statements. This and other types of documentation, such as estimates of repair or replacement costs for the damaged property, may also be required to determine the appropriate amounts under the Host Guarantee for damages incurred.
CryptoBed encourages both Host and Guest to solve the claim outside the protocol avoiding data collection and centralization
